Look Who's Running for Easter Seals?!?!
A few months ago, our area Easter Seals hosted their annual telethon. During this telecast, Running Central, a company based in Peoria, IL, introduced Peoria's First Annual City Wide Easter Seals Marathon! With the event two months away, I decided to start training again & run this 5K. Well, what do they say about the best laid plans??? I have just learned that raising a child with autism makes COMMITMENT a very hard thing to....um.....well.....commit to! In our situation, flexibility in our lives as parents makes things a bit easier in raising Ethan.....not so easy for training for a marathon. Well....maybe next year!
Then, I received the greatest blessing this past Sunday. After church, my brother-in-law (my sister's husband) told me that he ran his first marathon a couple of weeks ago. He seemed to really enjoy it & was looking for another one of which to participate. He told me that he found one in Peoria but was on the fence about doing it....until he heard that it was for Easter Seals. He signed up immediately.
WOWZA!!!!!!! What a blessing!!! I am always so blown away when people outside of our little family of three do something to support those living with disabilities, but especially when they do it for our special boy! Uncle Scott didn't put together a team, he isn't bragging about his awesomeness nor is het boasting about his generousity....that's not his style. He is just a guy who has found a love of running....and loves his only nephew like he was one of his own kids.
Well, sorry Uncle Scott....but you have a sister-in-law that is ALL ABOUT bragging on your awesomeness, your humbleness & your generousity!!!! GO UNCLE SCOTT GO!!!
Scott is wanting to raise $1000.00 in these last 2 weeks leading up to the marathon, and I'm using this blog to help him reach that outstanding goal! If you would like to donate to Scott & his challenge to raise money for Easter Seals, the link is http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/scottlamberson/runrivercityforeasterseals. If you are interested in being a part of this First Annual Run, you can also find information at the link listed above.
I may not be able to run with you, Uncle Scott....but you bet your bottom dollar that I will be your loudest cheerleader at the finish line!!!!!! GO UNCLE SCOTT!!!!!
